These past few weeks we've been doing some canning. One of my favorite is, LECSO, which is a meal, onions-tomatoes and peppers cooked together and put them in jars. Let them cool out and then put them on the pantry shelves.
This year the garden proved...we've worked so hard in there... and now mother nature is blessing the place. We'll have lots of peppers and tomatoes, so we can cook for the future months to come. So, we cooked LECSO in a kettle, yeah, LOTS of it. And of course it turned out very delicious.
In the cold winter time, when we feel like intake some vitamins from vegetables, we open a jar of lecso, cook it up, mix some eggs in, or maybe zucchini... or beans... put some sour cream on it too
and with fresh bread, yesss very yummie! This is how they look when they are done, and before wrapped up into warm things... so they cool out slowly.
And this was the second round of making this... Maybe one more cooking coming... but it won't be in a kettle anymore.
Yesterday we canned some pears. Oh, so lovely, sweet pears. We made pear halves, sliced and diced pears. Yes, all kinds. Hehe, as taste, well, they taste same, of course. I'm very excited about this canning thing. My mom is teaching me and we are making all together.
We made: apricot jam, plum jam (it's soo soft and delicious, almost like apricot),and elder berry jam, we put some sweet and sour cherries in jars, also big blue plums. Tomato juice and lecso.
We freeze some diced and shredded zucchinis, and lots of fruit. Yep, we are ready for the winter..

Last but not least... we dry peppers too. I guess, not for me because they are super hot...oh yeah, but sometimes maybe I can eat them.
For sure they look beautiful hanging outside while drying.
This is also the beginning of the peppers too, so maybe by the fall, we'll have a few more rows of peppers hanging.
If you travel around Hungary, you could see these peppers hung outside the homes drying. Usually they are red, but this time, we had some yellow ones too.
